The Town of Ault is a Statutory Town in the United States of America’s Weld County. At the time of the 2020 United States Census, the town’s population was 1,887, an increase of +24.23 percent over the 2010 United States Census. Ault is a suburb of Greeley, Colorado, and is located in the Front Range Urban Corridor. Originally known as High Land, the town was renamed Burgdorff Siding, and occasionally Bergdorf Switch (in honor of a railroad worker who died in an accident), before acquiring its current name in 1897. Alexander Ault, a citizen of Fort Collins, Colorado, and proprietor of a flour mill was the town’s namesake. Mr. Ault aided the agricultural base in averting financial calamity by acquiring the whole grain harvest during a year of extreme economic difficulty. In 1904, the town was incorporated. As of the 2000 census, the town had a population of 1,432 people, 540 homes, and 381 families. The population density was 2,123.7 inhabitants per square mile (825.2 inhabitants per km2). There were 560 dwelling units at an average density of 830.5 dwelling units per square mile (322.7 dwelling units per km2). The town was 79.47 percent White, 0.07 percent African American, 0.91 percent Native American, 0.42 percent Asian, 16.76 percent other races, and 2.37 percent of those who identified as having two or more races. Hispanic or Latino people of any race made up 30% of the population. The town’s median household income was $33,846, while the median family income was $43,304. Males earned a median income of $32,270, while females earned $23,482. The town’s per capita income was $15,570.
