Braces

6 Ways To Get Your Braces Off Faster

You can’t wear braces forever. One day your orthodontist will remove that metal contraption in your teeth, revealing those perfectly aligned teeth that you’ll be proud to show off. Don’t you want those ugly dental appliances of yours to come off faster? Here are some things you can do to get them off you more quickly. Getting Braces? Here’s What to Expect.

Be Careful What You Eat

Eating healthy is an important step to make sure they come off faster. Do note that that they won’t magically come off when you eat healthily, but it is the best procedure you can do to make sure that when they are put on and removed, your teeth are healthy.

  • Do not eat foods with a lot of sugar
  • Stay away from sticky or gummy foods because they stick to your teeth and braces and prevent the wires from working efficiently. Chewing on sticky foods can be tough on them, and it can bend the wires out of place.
  • Chop up raw vegetables, bread, and meat. Remember to eat slowly and carefully.

Take care of your braces

When you take care of them properly, you won’t experience frequent visits to your dental professional for adjustments or any type of fixes. Therefore, you can speed up the process of getting these appliances removed from your mouth faster than if you don’t take care of them. Food particles can quickly get stuck in the brackets and wire, so it is vital that you clean your teeth always.

Use a toothbrush with soft bristles. Brush between the brackets then brush your teeth in a circular motion. It is best to use an electric toothbrush as the fast, circular motion of the brush can easily dislodge food particles.

Make sure to floss. Floss your teeth after eating to get rid of any food particles that can promote plaque buildup. With a healthy mouth, your teeth can quickly shift into position.

If you wear elastics, make sure to use them as your orthodontist prescribed. It may be uncomfortable at times, but these elastics can work wonders in straightening your teeth. When you wear these bands, make sure to relax your jaw. Do not grind your teeth or clench your jaw. The elastics will put some pressure on it and make the alignment a bit easier.
